4th Aeris limit level fail

So I finally got around to going to the cave near Junon to get the mythril to get Aeris' last limit level. I don't know if I leveled way too much or what (I have almost infinite patience with it), but I had over 800 battles fought, so I fought up to 888, went and talked to him again and... he gave me a bolt ring. Not mythril. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Can I go again at 999? Maybe the dude in the cabin will take the Bolt Ring instead?

I really want to get all her Limit Levels before... you know.

And then I had to fight the midgar golem 5 times before he used Beta. Even with me defending more than half the time. So yeah, I guess too much grinding.
