Question Specialist Characters: Bane or Boon?

The favorite/least Job class thread started bringing this up and I was curious to know where people stand on the specialty character classes like Agent, Holy Swordmen, Bard(FFTA2), or Judge? Do you like the classes because they offer a bit more variety and style, or do you think they are either too useless or too overpowered that they wreak the game a bit.

When characters can change out of the job, then they are very useful, though they can be overpowered compared to generics, especially Cid from the original Tactics. When the character is locked into the class they are good for usually one role and that's all. Hermetic and Runeseeker are practically useless when you get them. Agent requires a party of Viera and Gria. Judge fits well into most parties though.

    Yeah, Hermetic and Runeseeker suck.

Hermetic has huge Magic stat growth... And no magical attacks. Two spells, period. A version of Night that only affects enemies (which is nice, granted), and Astra, which protects an area against status effects. That's it. Sucky, sucky class, and the fact that you can't jobchange out of it makes it basically useless.

Runeseeker. Well, it's better, since it actually, y'know, has an attack spell, but it's still useless. Firaga and three time magic spells. In other words, inferior to even a basic Time Mage.

    At least Judge is useful.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

Do you have any examples of job classes that specialize deeply in the original Final Fantasy Tactics? I think every job has the chance to be useful at some point in the game as long as it is acquired during the course of the normal game and not in a post-game dungeon or activity.

Oh, no. Nevermind. Monsters are terrible in Final Fantasy Tactics. You have to go out of your way to find a use for them. I remember that the Final Fantasy Tactics community on GameFAQs was very intent on finding some hidden uses for monsters in the party, but some of the monsters were just outright inferior to any human.
