New Screens of Primal Shiva in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Shiva has been a popular recurring summon throughout the Final Fantasy series, as our own Lockharted recently pointed out in her Summon of the Month spotlight on the icy beauty. And with the developers of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn trying to do more to bring the “Final Fantasy feel” to the upcoming game, it is no surprise that Shiva will be making an appearance as a primal.

Here is the original concept art for Shiva in FFXIV:

Earlier today, the development team released some screenshots of how Shiva will actually look in the game.

And you thought Cloud had to use a lot of hair product...

Wow, not exactly the blue lady we’ve come to expect from Shiva, but still as powerful looking and scantily clad as ever. Her hair sticking up is kind of freaking me out, though.

To be honest, I'm not sure I like the look, but it's nothing I can't get over.

Yeah I don't see from the Primal how it represents 'ice' at all. Maybe it will be updated or something.

How do summons work in this game, anyway?

They're coming out with(or soon after) 2.0. I don't know if they've said anything about the mechanics of them yet.

She looks intimidating.... I LIKE IT! Normally shiva is seen as a sexual object (don't lie, you know it's true) but this look, this makes her look like someone you don't want to smurf with, while embodying all that is female.

It's a nice ZBrush sculpt! We'll see how it translates to the engine with textures (I don't believe she has any textures there, just the stock-standard ZBrush materials) and effects.

I actually like the design of it, but maybe I'm weird.

The colors on the 3D model are just placeholders. They will be different and closer to the concept art when it's finished.
