Opera

I'm afraid your 16-bit opera is no match for the real thing.

I am a newcomer to this rather interesting form of storytelling. Does anyone else here like actual opera?

I think I'll start with Carmen or Faust. I know I want to start with some French opera.

i saw Die Fledermaus a few months ago and it was absolutely amazing
but it's probably a gateway show cause it's a comedy

You haven't heard opera, until you've heard the Legendary Leontyne Price sing. Leontyne Price was the first African American opera superstar and widely considered to be one of the best (if not the best) female operatic performer of all time.

The closest I've come to seeing an opera is Pirates of Penzance. I can't remember much about it except that I did enjoy it a lot. It's been a long time since I have seen it, though. I believe Pirates is considered an operetta, which I honestly do not really know the differentiation between an opera and operetta. I have been interested in watching more operas eventually, but I don't really know where to start.

I have an oldass script from this that my dad gave me as a kid that I've kept throughout the years.

Along with musicals, my dad raised us singing and playing opera in the house. I remember some of the more famous ones like La Bohème, Rigoletto, Turandot, Madame Butterfly, The Barber of Seville and Carmen playing growing up.

My dad is in an opera act at the Venetian in Las Vegas. I love listening to him sing and I remember him practicing Nessun Dorma over and over as a kid. I don't know many opera songs but that one is definitely my favorite.
