    Default Splitting Enemies

    Suck.
You think a minor thing like the end of the world was gonna do me in?

    Like hell they do!
    So good for grinding.

EDIT: Okay okay I stand corrected. I used to go there all the time when I played the game as I liked fighting them.
I do like the enemies though, they make you plan out your attacks instead of just spamming the attack button like a lunatic.

So TERRIBLE for grinding! The ones in the Cave of Darkness give me less than 500 exp for a group of 4. The way easier enemies in the place where you get Odin give you like 2000.

Well, OBVIOUSLY not that cave. That cave sucks.
The cave good for grinding is where you get the "invincible" if I remember its name correctly. They gave out buttloads of experience, and you could carry out a match indefinitely if you knew what you were doing.
    >This is the DS version btw

Odins cave is pretty good too, I'll give you that.

Ah, I'm playing the NES version, and yeah the monsters in the cave where you get the Invincible gave crappy exp too. It's like a slap in the face to have to deal with such annoying battles for such a small amount of exp.

Splitting enemies aren't good for grinding. A group of three will give about 700 exp per character. You can go to the sunken cave and fight easier enemies that give about 3000 exp per character.

Splitting enemies hit hard and have high HP. Just get through the Cave and never go back!!

I didn't find my first 2 dark swords until a few levels into the Cave of Darkness. By that point i'd been fighting splitting enemies for a while already. But yeah, Magic Knight made them WAY easier.

Who at Square thought this crap was a good idea?

At least you get some extra exp. Games that pull stuff like splitting enemies and don't even give you extra exp have an extra-extra-special place in my heart.

If I remember correctly, the first swords could be found in the Magic Knight town (Falgabard or something), which should be before the Cave of Darkness.

EDIT: Ow it IS the Cave of Darkness.

The best XP in the game without dealing with splitting enemies and comfortably close to where you can save, is Bahamut's Cave.

Well, there are the Kum Kum's in the Crystal Tower that summon enemies infinitely. But I really think Bahamut's cave is the best spot for leveling.

You're right. I'm an idiot and didn't find Falgabard until AFTER finishing the Cave of Darkness.
