he was just ok before, but then he had to go pee off the side of a bridge, if i remember that right, and that killed any adorable or cuteness in him for me... to make it worse hes a black mage, the most useless class in FF, well untill LuLu and FFX made Black Mages usefull... Beatrix is the best FF IX Character hands down, sad you barely get to use her in your party...

Berserker at least does some damage.

To be fair, it depends on what Bard. The Bard in the remake of FF III is actually a very strong support class and I seem to remember that it wasn't that bad in V either. I agree with you on the scholar and the III NES Bard, though. And let's not forget Edward...

considering i don't recall ever having any of those classes forced into my party i don't consider them, but Black Mages are almost always put into your party when there's set character classes... oh, and Edward the Bard, hes as useless as a Pre-FFX Black Mage...

Well, there's only ever been two forced black mages in the party pre-X: Rydia and Vivi (well, and Palom, but he's temporary unless you play IV Advance or Complete Collection). I wouldn't say either of them are useless. Vivi has very strong spells that are much more useful than, say, the Eidolons in the game. Same for Rydia, though she did have summons to back up her black magic arsenal. You could argue that in the end game, other characters like Zidane and Steiner are better since they can do more damage with less MP cost than Vivi with his strongest spells, but that's more a flaw that's been hunting magic throughout the entire series than a flaw of Vivi.
