I'm going to go with Kangaroo. That's what instantly pops in my head when I think of Australia.
My guess as to it's placement would be either a very surprising 1st, or a very decent 2nd or 3rd. Somewhere in the top three at least, surely.
Kangaroos are pretty common in Australia. In face, you could say it's the national animal, but I wouldn't know for sure.
