    ---

Old text for start of the contestWhat's this!?
Welcome to the second of hopefully many themed FanArt contests of Eyes on Final Fantasy! After the Final Fantasy Ciddies, we had really positive feedback from both artists and fans, particularly about how enjoyable it was to create/view Final Fantasy FanArt with a theme! Some artists, however, noted that they wished they had more time than 1-2 weeks to work on their pieces... with this in mind, we at EoFF have decided to build on all that and create a monthly themed contest with a little prize up for grabs, too.

    So how does it work?
The plan is to run this to a schedule every month and get as many artists from EoFF and DeviantArt as possible involved in it. A theme will be announced roughly a month before the closing date for submissions. People will submit their artwork to webmaster@eyesonff.com. Once the final day for submitting artwork passes, the various pieces of art will be showcased at EoFF and then voting carried out by Eyes on Final Fantasy members.

    What will the winner get?
The winner this month will receive a month's premium membership at DeviantArt or, if they would prefer it, they can receive DeviantArt points instead, or even request the premium membership go to someone else of their choosing! I know it's not a huge prize, but it's coming out of the pocket of EoFF members such as myself and it's hopefully going to be every month... oh, and if you want to sponsor a month, let me know! You will even get to pick the theme for that month (so long as it's suitable for these forums).

    You mentioned a theme?
As you can see, the theme for the month of March will be day jobs, so time for the weapons to be put to the side, the costumes switched for uniforms and perhaps a FF character could cover your own job for a day! Ensure all your artwork is themed to both Final Fantasy and day jobs, which means you could have Vincent flipping burgers, Red XIII playing the heroic lifeguard, the cast of FFXII slugging through their office or even a Moomba overseeing the construction of a building!

How fast do I need to work?
The due date for this month will be 24th March 2013 - so you have around three weeks!

I bet there are rules, huh?
You know me too well. Here's everything you should need to know... be sure to check this over, artists! Hopefully most of it is obvious, but there are some bits that might not be.
    - Artwork should fit the chosen theme, and should feature a clear Final Fantasy influence such as characters/creatures/monsters/summons/etc. Not all of them at once, of course. Just something that shows that it is Final Fantasy FanArt!
    - Artwork should be clean (no porn, no hentai, nothing crude).
    - Artwork should be your own creation - so please ensure you don't copy/paste/edit existing work, and instead make something from scratch. Digital and traditional artwork are both acceptable!
    - For now, I'm going to allow up to three entries per person, so if you want to do three pieces of art, that's fine!
    - Artwork should be emailed to webmaster@eyesonff.com before the due date. Please include your username at EoFF and/or DeviantArt!
    - Please do not make your artwork public before the due date (so don't post it into this thread or onto DeviantArt). You can post your artwork wherever you wish after the due date. The intention is to keep the revelation of the artwork a surprise.
    - After the due date, the submitted art will be revealed at EoFF along with the theme for April. I'll also be posting a new journal entry for the DeviantArt group.
    - Voting will last for about a week and will take place at EoFF. The winner will be declared on the last day of the month, along with instructions on how to claim your prize.

That Tonberry chef. Yes! I love that one! All of them are good, but that one is most appealing to me.

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

i voted mail delivery, it's not only arguably the best technically (bar perhaps latia-san's other one with a - clown? but) also it's the best at what it's trying to do, or say, in terms of relevance

i'd like to see you do a kefka, latia! well done (here's to a win!)

Well, I can't vote for a Lunaria sans FuSoYa.
Nor can I get myself to vote for what is essentially an orgy with chocobos and moogles around a penis statue.
And while I like the Terra picture, and she's mah gurl, I feel kind of creepy looking at it, which means I definitely can't vote for it.
Finally, it's not fair for someone to get two entries! So that just leaves

Tonberry Chef, which gets my vote by default, but would probably get my vote anyways, because tonberries are awesome, and wait a sec...

just realized what the theme was, so wtf is up with the Terra picture? Is that stripper Terra? Is that what she was doing to take care of all those kids? Is that how the village survived, whoring a poor half-esper girl out to side-show strip clubs?

    I feel dirty.

It's mentioned in the poll, but Terra is a model in this instance.

It's a really tricky call on who to vote for. I'm still undecided. They all have something different!

It was a tie between the Tonberry and Lunarian for me.

I know I'm not much of an artist, so I can't speak, but the Tonberry Chef' colours are a bit harsh to the eye. I mean, it's still a wonderful picture, and I assume it's a style, but I think it's just a notch or two too hard.

I love the Lunarian Diner. I mean, just look how happy Cecil looks! XD King Cecil of Baron in a frilly apron, and he's rocking it quite well. Golbez in the back is just adorable. XD

I found this really difficult to vote in. First of all let me say they are all excellent pieces of work. It's obvious that a lot of effort & creativity went into each and they are truely impressive. All were interesting in their own way.

Latias413 piece was fantastic and a nice style of art. Her next was a wonderful effort with graphite - great shading in both. lolomalons Terra was beautifully done. Peacecraft8's drawing is one could win as it has a lot of creativity & good pencilwork in it.

But for me its a tossup between Chrislea's & LittleHitodama's pieces. They are the most creative in my eyes & both made me laugh. To be honest any of these pieces could win, but my vote goes to Chrislea's Lunarian Diner, but I'm happy for whoever wins.

These are all really adorable and amazing. But the Tonberry Master Chef won me over in the end.

Oh me gosh, this contest theme is more better than the last contest theme. The creativity showed its true colors!

Okay, let me say to the lovely Chrislea who produced the Lunarian Diner picture, you have completely made my day. Seeing Cecil as a waitress and Goblez as a chef is so priceless; I mean seriously, they are two brothers working at the same diner and that part made me giggled so much! Also, with Cloud and Bartz in the picture in their job uniforms adds a nice apporiate scene overall. I adored the character placement and the setting.

LittleHitodama, I adore the idea of the Tonberry preparing sushi from monsters (I'm thinking about trying some myself). The only thing that drives me off a bit was the Tonberry's tail behind him. I'm not sure if he has a tail or not because a traditional Tonberry is covered with a hood covering his body. Despite of that, I enjoyed the scenery and the composition is well balanced.

lolomolan, you gotta be the photographer because you captured Terra's beauty so well! She's totally a hot babe for a model; it's no wonder why Kefka wanted her so bad. I loved the simplicity for the backround for it brings Terra much attention from the viewer. I can defineatly see this as a Final Fantasy themed model-fashion maganize (hmm another contest theme idea!)

peacecraft8, I'm uncertain about what the picture is about, but I gotta say the scene looked adorable; chocobos and other cute creatures just made me smile. Seeing this picture as traditional medium, you put yourself great time and effort into it; so great work!

So, when it comes down to it, I am stuck between the Lunarian Diner and Terra Modeling. Man, this is going to be hard, but I think I made my decision (not going to say it until the results are spoken). Great job all fanartists who participated! This is a very successful contest!
Harmony and Distortion coexist together to support every creature and landscape in the world, including the forces of good and evil. That is how the world keeps on living with a strong balanced composition.
    ~Amanda's Juxtaposition Theroy

Sudden Reaction when both Amanda and Dragonite
see a romantic Final Fantasy love scene:
Amanda: Aww, this is so romantic! They would make a great couple together!
Dragonite: Kiss, Kiss, Kiss, Kiss... C'MON! KISS ALREADY!
Amanda: Drag, you have no patience whatsoever.

After much consideration, I've finally opted for Mail Delivery for the Flower Shop Owner. It was really, really tricky to decide, and in the end I went for the one that I felt deserved an additional vote most.

For the Diner piece, I simply adore the Goblez chef. I don't even know why... perhaps it's the absurdity of it all, it certainly makes me laugh seing all that armour holding a spatula. Fantastic work.

The Mime piece and Terra as a model are both very well done - I really wanted to give Bartz a vote in particular because he has none right now and that work doesn't deserve to sit on zero, but sadly I only have the one vote to give! Terra's linework certainly raises an eyebrow, I'm not sure I've ever seen her look so attractive. =x

The Mail Delivery piece really grabs the day job theme with some characters fully getting into their 'normal' lives. I like the colouring and the attention to the background rather than just the characters. The same can be said for the Tonberry Sushi Chef - the little things like the Buster Sword sitting alongside the normal knives in the kitchen really make it, and it looks like it will be a deserving winner.

Peacecraft, for those who haven't figured it out, has a group of characters and chocobos working together to grow trees. It references Hometree Project, which is actually a project Peacecraft is involved with on Facebook - so a fair bit of personal touch there! Done traditionally, it clearly got a lot of thought and effort put into it. I really get the sense of community from all those involved in the planting of the trees.

Heads up for artists: The next themed art contest will have a Game Invaders theme - where FF characters/summons/monsters feature in other games. You could have Cactuar putting Luigi through his paces in Mario Kart, Fang firing a rocket launcher in a well known shooter or Ifrit vs. Blanka in Street Fighter! I'll officially announce the event at the start of next month, but feel free to start working on something now if you wish!
