Does the receiver know for which post they received a rep point from? And who sent it? And can the whole community see it if a certain post earned, say 5 positive reps? Can everyone see it?

Yes and yes. The community can see the bars on your user profile above your profile pic, but not the actual amount of points or what rep comments you have received.

the rep comment is private (known to the giver and the recipient)
who gave the rep is private
see how some posts have a "Limit" thing in the corner? that's an indication of howmuch rep the post has earned (i'm assuming you're using eoff classic or some similar theme)
