Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Released in Japan

This week’s videogame news has been dominated by all the talk of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD reMIX after a video showing gameplay was ‘leaked’. To top this week off, the collection has now been released in Japan.

Here at Eyes on Final Fantasy we have a huge Kingdom Hearts fan-base, so I’m sure you’re all now very excited for the release of the collection in the coming fall. It still seems like miles away though, so hopefully Square-Enix have some little tricks up their sleeve to stop the wait from feeling so long!

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD reMIX is a collection featuring Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. If that wasn’t enough for you Nobodies out there, there’s also a HD Theatre Edition of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

The gameplay demo shows the very first parts of Kingdom Hearts when you have to ‘face off’ against Tidus, Wakka and Selphie on Destiny Islands. It looks so neat and flawless with its updated visuals! A world that was already filled with tonnes of colour has been made even better… I could almost feel the dreamy sea breeze.

I haven’t fully played all of the Kingdom Hearts series, so I’m probably going to be buying this for my collection. What I enjoyed most about Kingdom Hearts was its originality. It brought together the fairy tale worlds of Disney and combined them with the characters I grew to love in Final Fantasy – with many original characters of its own too. The storyline had me hooked straight away and there was so much to do, so many levels to play and lots of secret items to collect.

Now since it has been updated to PlayStation 3, there’s something else to be collected too…. TROPHIES! If you’re an absolute trophy fiend like me, this will be good news for you. There are the standard trophies to be gained from completing a level in the story and also trophies for going out and collecting, like the trophy for “opening 100 boxes” and for “obtaining all shields”. If those trophies weren’t enough for you, by completing each of the titles in the collection, you’ll get a beautiful custom PlayStation 3 theme…

So on scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you for the release of this collection? Or are you just utterly Heartless and don’t care at all?

I'll honestly buy this just for the HD aspect.

I don't care about the endless sequels (I don't want to keep up anyway) but it'll be fun to replay a game I got over ten years ago without it looking like garbage. More or less.

If they can do this, why can't they remake older games, again?

I wonder if this game will have dual audio, always found Donald Duck's Japanese voice funny. My playthrough of RE:CoM was great because I was always waiting to hear Donald talk. I had the Re:Com that came with Final Mix + btw. In case you're wondering why it was in Japanese.
