Christmas and Her Warcraft III

Well, I got a new PC and I copied my copy of my Warcraft III to the new one. Now the problem is that I got the Discs but lost the CD KEY.
When I tried to patch it, it give an error message.


ERROR: unable to apply patch to file 'C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\game.dll'

ERROR: unable to apply patch to file 'C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Storm.dll'

ERROR: unable to apply patch to file 'C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\war3.exe'


So, is there really NO other way to fix this rather then reinstalling the whole game again since I lost the CD KEY and I have to BUY the game again just for the sake of the CD KEY?

PS: K, I lost the cover, manual EVERYTHING except the discs.

Do you play on Battle.net? If you don't then the issue of not having a CD key is more likely patchable. It you expect to play on B.net without a CD key, you are pretty much out of luck.

Oh, if you still have your old computer, you could try copying the registry for warcraft 3 to the new computer.

Copy HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III by exporting from the old computer and importing on the new computer.

I don't know if this will make any difference, but it might have a chance of helping.
