I'd have to watch it again but I was under the impression that it was legit.
I think it was a really bad cliffhanger and has been swept under the carpet. National newspapers were all going mad with speculation about which actor would take over and were none too impressed they'd been trolled!
I didn't think they'd count it, then again before the 50th (SPOILER)I didn't think John Hurt would really be a secret incarnation between Eight and Nine and instead was a future incarnation for a butt load of reasons that made sense at the time but Moffat was all, "Smurf common sense!"
According to Moffat, it is, but as I mentioned in my previous post, Moffat is a notorious liar, so who knows.Is that really being counted as a regeneration or is it still just fan speculation?
Well, I can see one reason how it would be true.

That's quite likely one reason for it, yes. There's also the fact that it leaves the opportunity for a tremendous cliffhanger about the Doctor's regeneration limit that is probably going to have everyone tearing their hair out à la Reichenbach Fall.

That's Peter Capaldi. He was announced as the Twelfth Doctor earlier this year. The 50th was already filmed before then so they probably added him in during editing.Originally Posted by blackmage_nuke

I watched The Day of the Doctor tonight. It was really good!
I've never sat and watched an episode of Doctor Who before aside from catching a bit when flipping through channels, so this was pretty much my first experience with the show. Of course, due to its popularity and how much I saw of it here on the forums, I understood the basics. I knew Tennant came before Smith and what not so the basic concepts and time travel aspect of it didn't go over my head.
I want to get in to this show. The only thing that puts me off, honestly, is the aliens. The pink tentacle touting aliens. Is there a lot of that in the show? My main enjoyment with this movie was the Doctors interaction with each other as well as other people, so if there's plenty of that I'd consider watching more. Is alien and human interaction in the show 50/50? Or is it more one than the other?
There's generally an alien threat in most episodes but the emphasis is definitely on the interaction between the humanoid characters. It's worth remembering, however, that the Doctor himself is an alien; he just happens to be a humanoid one. (Although, as he says, "[humans] look Time Lord"; the Time Lords were around first).
Yeah, there's an alien every week (more or less, a lot of them are recurring). Some of them are incredibly campy like the ones you saw in the 50th Special, and some are seriously majorly cool.

No, I'll give LWL credit here. The Zygons are kind of lame, and you can tell they're a monster of another era.
Honestly, when it comes to Doctor Who, the camp is part of its charm. And really, the story is less about "we have to beat bad guy aliens" and more about the relationships, character growths, and parallels to our own lives and experiences that makes it so beloved.
I'm not disagreeing I'm just playing which I thought would have been obvious after the lame threats and making fun of said lame threats.
Now it's not funny anymore because I had to explain it
Most likely this is going to address (SPOILER)the twelve regenerations limit, how he survived Trenzalore and what happened there, what caused the destruction of the TARDIS in The Pandorica Opens and why it was destroyed, what "Silence Will Fall" means and why the Doctor doesn't know what it means, the Doctor's Fear from The God Complex, and likely things I don't know/remember.
Off course, Moffat has also said there will be a cliffhanger so
but then again Moffat lies, so who knows really
