Good program to rip clips from dvds

Ok, so I've got a few ideas that I would like to do for some youtube videos but in order to do them, I'm needing clips of movies and I was wondering if there are any programs that I can use that would let me pick a certain section and rip that clip and insert it into a another program to edit it and make them. Thanks.

I don't know if you have a Mac or a PC, but I have used Mac the Ripper, Handbrake or alternatively Screenflow where you can just screen capture whatever is playing on your computer screen and save it to any video/audio format.
