Legendary album art designer Storm Thorgerson dead of cancer, aged 69
Godsdamn. Who can imagine Dark Side of the Moon, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, In Through the Out Door, or Peter Gabriel (1980) without their iconic cover art? Thorgerson continued to be prolific throughout his later life, doing work for bands like The Mars Volta, Audioslave, and Muse which is probably just as identified with those bands as his early work was with theirs.
Rock has lost one of its great designers. R.I.P.
