Hello all to the final day of cooking in the first round! I hope we are all well. Remember, the cooking phase ends essentially before I go bed, and to make sure that the remaining three contestants gets their dish done, will probably be later than usual. There's been a real surge of entries in lately and I've got exactly 8 entries, with 3 still to go. Should those 3 miss the deadline, there will be no disqualifications, but there will be penalties imposed, which I will reveal later if I have to. Anyway, I've got one new entry for you guys, so here it is!

Ingredients List



  • 2 eggs
  • 100g of butter
  • 130 ml plain flour
  • 240 ml brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 3 1/2 tbs cocoa
  • Pinch of salt


Garnish:

  • Icing sugar for dusting the cake with


Serve with:

  • Whipped cream



The Recipe

Keep in mind everything will be mixed in one pot.

x Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius.
x Melt the butter in a pot and turn off the element and remove the pot from there.
x Add brown sugar and vanilla essence to the melted butter and use a rubber spatula to thoroughly mix the ingredients together.
x Add the flour and cocoa and mix again, and lastly add the eggs.
x Mix very thoroughly, making sure to scrape everything off the sides of the pot as well.

x Grease a round baking tin (preferably one where the bottom can come off once it's baked) with some butter.
x Pour the mixture into the tin and bake in the oven for 15-20 min.
x The center should wobble every so slightly if you carefully shake the tin, and the outer corners should be firm.
x Wait 5-10 min before dusting with icing sugar.

Serve warm with some whipped cream on the side.
