Haha oh man, that was a truly classic moment of TOS.

Sulu is Sulu.
TNG is best, DS9 is second best, and a good portion of TOS is excellent too. Voyager is ugh, but tell Hux I told you that. Enterprise I actually felt had potential before it was canceled.
Poor Sulu; George Takei really is a great actor and his acting skills shined in that episode and then he hardly ever got to use them again in the show.
I need more people to come talk about this show with me I just finished the first season of TOS. That City on the Edge of Forever episode is just a basket full of FEELS.
City on the Edge of Forever is smurfing amazing. I'm not sure I've ever seen all of TOS before. They show a bunch of episodes on Space up here in Canada, but I think there are at least some they don't air. I'll have to get a hold of the seasons and rewatch it from the start I think.
I tried to watch all of TOS years ago, but I just couldn't get into too many of the episodes, and I've probably only seen about 1/3 of them. There are certainly some gems mixed into it, though, like with The City on the Edge of Forever.
Oh a bunch of them are complete ass by any modern standard, but I can't help but love them anyway. Looking back it's hard to believe the 60's was a thing that happened.
Netflix has got them all so I'm using that. A lot of the episodes are hilariously cheesy and yet I love them anyway. They always end on some sort of philosophical note. It reminds me of the classic Twilight Zone episodes.
So, I watched the first episode of season 2 of the original Star Trek. Spock was having some kind of mating/wedding ritual junk going on. Then he and Kirk were stuck in a fight to the death and Kirk was all surprised like YOU SAID NOTHING ABOUT THAT when seriously that was my first question. I was actually like, hey, maybe before you accept you should make sure it isn't a fight to the death? No? Okay then. But he survived and even got excused for not doing his job as he was ordered to so everything turned out okay in the end.
I like how Kirk's facial expressions didn't match anyone elses. Everyone looks surprised and he's all . And another point everyone looks shocked and he's just there .
Ahaha yeah I thought it was pretty obvious that it was a fight to the death so the fact that it shocked Kirk so much was funny to me.
Glad you seemed to like the episode okay though. I was watching and thinking it was kind of a really weird episode to start a newbie on.
Been watching TNG this week and it's pretty good. Riker is my favorite. What are some people's favorite episodes? I don't have time to watch them all so I'm focusing on the ones that have been rated high. Right now I'm in season 2. 'The Measure of a Man' has been my favorite episode so far.
