For RPG I tend to be the same way only I tend to also lvl up ridiculously. For example the last few times I've run through FF7 I don't leave midgard till I'm at least lv 20, this past time I remember I had a bolt, fire and ice 2 before I left. When your in the temple of the ancients and you get bahamut for the first time I lvl it up once before I leave and I don't even go into the temple until I have Aeriss' final limit.
for FPS I tend to just stick to the story, I only bother with fpss with a good story and a sci theme so not cod or battlefield or anything like that. I do enjoy co-op and stuff like horde modes and stuff like that with friends.
MMO - I love questing and hate having a quests in my quest log and must do them as quick as possible, I also try to do every quest I can, I'm also one of the rare people I meet that love daily quests. I tend to stick to raiding and dungeoning then PVP but I usually pick on good character that I'm comfortable doing pvp with because I like pvp because fighting other players is much more engaging than npcs. But I like raiding more, I'm the kinda guy that looks at a boss fight and can usually make out what is happening and going to happen. I learnt most of my wow and swtor fights from doing them more then watching videos, but I also lean the fight from watching a video. I'm also usually in a leadership position in more guilds I'm in in mmos.
MOBAs: I tend to stick with range dps
Adventure/Action 3rd person (eg: Darksiders): Complete the story don't try to hard to 100% these but you can be sure that is the game tells you to go one way the other way will have a chest.
