Favorite Sonic games are 2, S3&K, SA2, and Generations.
Favorite soundtrack for a Sonic game would have to be Sonic 3 & Knuckles if only for the Michael Jackson rumor.
Best level music in a Sonic game would be Mystic Cave Zone from Sonic 2.
Then again, my brother has ALWAYS been a bigger Sonic fan than I am. Sonic Adventure 2 is his all-time favorite video game.

I loooove Mystic Cave Zone. Especially the derpy little tune it plays.
Its funny how I grew up with Sonic and had access to all the consoles he's been on, yet I never adopted him after his classic run, even though I remained an avid fan during the Dreamcast era. Kinda glad though. Never had to fully experience the fall of one of my favorite mascots. Still sad though. But Sonic 1 - Knuckles and CD were some spectacularly fond memories. Not sure what my favorite game was. But my favorite experience was definitely Sonic CD. The graphics in the backgrounds, the CD-quality music, the time travel aspect. And above all, for some reason, that VS scene with metal sonic really stuck in my brain as an intense one-on-one against a truly arch rival as a kid. So I've held the game fondly enough to acquire it both on Android, and hacked onto my PSP lol
I think my favorite melody would be the boss fights with Robotnik from Sonic 2

Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed may be the best Sonic game ever. (Obviously it's not really a Sonic game 'cause it's not a platformer but he is the headliner and the game is about Going Smurfing Fast so close enough!)
Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed is not the best game ever, but it has an understand of what games are supposed to be that is extremely rare; the nostalgia is the icing on the cake.
I cannot stop grinning when I play this game.
I've been wanting the sonic racing game, but it would be more fun to me playing it with friends. I have no friends that would play it with me, unfortunately.
I'll probably get around to it though as I am currently trying to play through every single sonic game (whether bad or good) just for the fun of it. Currently working on Sonic Advance now that I beat Sonic '06.
I love all the zones in Sonic 2. Even Hill Top Zone. Casino Night Zone has my favorite music, followed by a tie between Chemical Plant Zone and Aquatic Ruin Zone. I did a metal cover of Chemical Plant Zone with my old band and made an ambient trance remix of Aquatic Ruin Zone that I really liked, but there's just no improving the Casino Night music. The level I least enjoy playing is Metropolis Zone, but that's only because of how long it is, since it's basically a few other scrapped levels thrown together. It's an interesting design though.

I will never be able to forget Sonic 1. I did like Sonic 2, and 3+K was astounding in scope, but Sonic 1 is special to me.
I would put Sonic CD over it, but the level design isn't nearly as tight. The stages are just too spread out and Wacky Workbench in particular irritates me to play for longer than a couple of minutes.

Oh man SONIC CD is a glorious and underrated little gem of a game. Not quite up with the original three but still great.
Sonic 1, 2, and Spinball were all pretty great! Even though I never played 3 (I know, blaspemous, right?
The RPG on the DS was pretty good too!
If you don't count the original Mario Kart.
If you don't count the original Mario Kart, Carmageddon 2, the arcade version of Off Road, and probably something else.
It's entirely different, of course, and it's definitely a good game, but it isn't Sonic 2.
okay just so we're all clear, Uniracers is the best racing game ever.
But at least we agree that Sonic 2 is the best Sonic.
