34. Mass Effect 2
360, 2010

Given that I've already included ME3 in this list, I'll keep this one short. I really liked a lot of the characters in this game (although it doesn't have my favourite). Mordin, EDI, Miranda, Jack, Thane and Legion were excellent. The others were okay, too. I really enjoyed how they brought a lot of life to the worlds in this game, although it still fell back to the old "boxes in corridoors" routine more often than one would like. It was really intriguing learning about Cerberus and pretending to learn about The Illusive Man.

In retrospect, I suppose this game is very much a transition game - a starting game known and an end game known and this one just gets us from Point A to Point B, which means a lot of character development and a lot of running around getting pieces to a puzzle that was started a long time ago and you know won't end in this game, either... but it was still really fun. For me, this is a game ranked high on the list thanks to solid gameplay and quality characters with a touch of good writing.
