Hmm, at that time I think your best bets would be Lumos, Vin or Patroclus (Bobby). Don't give up! Keep trying every time you're on and hopefully at some point you won't be so unlucky.

Man, I should've read this before creating a character! I just bought FFXIV and I'm level 11 now, but on a different server. How much are server transfers?

If you feel like switching servers but don't want to pay the fee, now's the time to do it! You can breeze through the first 10 levels in no time at all (like, probably 1 hour easily), and there's a whole bunch of people in the LS and FC to help.
