Video games are perhaps the least needed, now that we have (terribly maintained and executed and for some reason not discounted) direct-downloads available for new release titles – I’m speaking about consoles, of course, because PC master race etc Steam etc etc, we’ve heard that spiel before.
Instead of, you know, waiting in line for a week to purchase a physical copy of the game, you could just sit at home munching on chips and download it as soon as it pops up, all without having to put on pants!
Or, you could wander down to Wal-Mart/Kmart/Target/those kinds of stores who seem to routinely break street dates and release games early. You can probably get away without wearing pants there too, even.
Or, you could speak to this guy I know, who works as a distributor for companies like the above and EB Games who gets games ~1 week before release and will sell the smurfing thing to you for just above “cost-price,” which for Australians is about $40 cheaper than usual.
Your choice. Become a sad little soul who pitches a tent outside a goddamn gaming store, or relax and get the game whenever you damn well feel like it.
But I bet you don’t even like Final Fantasy anyway.
