You know sometimes I’m just sitting watching TV, and one of those damn adverts with the Donkeys or the abandoned dogs comes on, and I just, I just want to cry. I mean, thinking about it is already bringing the tears to my eyes. I’m an emotional lady. I can’t help it. I cry watching just bout everything, I get so filled to the brim with emotion and you may say my heart is on my sleeve. But being emotional isn’t just about crying – being emotional is about being a whirlwind full of emotions - and it isn't a negative thing either.

But just what are emotions? Theorist Robert Plutchik claims that there are eight basic emotions:

• Fear
• Anger
• Sadness
• Joy
• Disgust
• Trust
• Anticipation
• Surprise.

Philosopher, Aristotle, has written about emotions such as shame, envy, and pity. We can already gather that emotions are very weird to define and there is in fact no full and definitive list of emotions.

Being emotional is about having a assembly of emotions ready for any situation that may arise. All human beings are emotional, but some show it more than others. So if you’re nominated for this award, don’t be saddened or angry over thinking that people just think you’re a big crybaby. Take it from the other side, and see yourself as a passionate person, driven by emotion to get the best out of everything!

Be proud to be emotional!
