What kind of bread? White? Wheat? Potato? Pita?
Toasted or untoasted?
Crusts or not crusts?
Crunchy or creamy peanut butter?
What kind of jelly, jam, or preserves?
White, untoasted, crust, extra crunchy, blueberry.
Wheat, toasted, crust, smooth as silk, any (except, like, orange marmalade or stuff like that. yuck).
Peanut butter inbetween two pieces of bread.
IT'S FREAKING PB&J IT'S NOT FANCY
I used to love PB&Js as a little kid, but as I got older I started preferring plain peanut butter sammiches. Because peanut butter by itself is amazing. Either toasted or untoasted is fine, though I love toast + peanut butter as a breakfast food.
And I always stick with white bread, as I have to watch my fiber intake.
Multi-grain bread, toasted, crusts, I generally like crunchy but am sometimes in the mood for creamy, grape or strawberry.
Also, the sandwich needs to have a lot of peanut butter and only a little bit of jelly. I spread peanut butter across both slices of bread and spread a little bit of jelly on one slice of bread.
You don't need the jelly when peanut butter is amazing as is
and don't tell me I'm doing peanut butter wrong, peanut butter is my favorite food
there's no way to do peanut butter wrong
if you think you're doing peanut butter wrong, only then are you doing peanut butter wrong

Seriously guys, I make the BEST PB&Js.
The thing that people miss out on is that the bread shouldn't just be toasted, it should be lightly fried in a little bit of butter. Trust me, it makes a world of different.
Next time you guys make PB&J, try melting a little butter in a fry pan (extra points if you brown the butter!!) and then toast up the bread slices in the pan. THEN add in really good quality peanut butter as well as really good quality jelly. Seriously try and get jelly/jam that uses sugar instead of corn syrup, it is SO much better. I personally prefer freshly ground honey roasted peanut butter that has a slight crunch to it. Soooooo good, omg.
I wish people would just see that jam is so massively better than jelly as to render the latter obsolete.
I use the terms interchangeably.
Fortunately for me, I couldn't care less!
I haven't had PB&J since I was a kid. I don't hate it, there are just many, many other things I would rather eat.
Crunchy, non-toasted wheat or multi-grain bread, strawberry jam or raspberry as a substitute. I don't cut the crusts off, though, I pull them off. As I do with all my sandwiches.
