I have actually noticed a hierarchy within my local card shop. It goes Magic > YGO > Vanguard/Pokémon

The Magic players look down on the YGO players, wondering why the YGO players don't play Magic.

The YGO players look down on the Vanguard and Pokémon players, wondering why they don't play YGO.

The Vanguard/Pokémon players look at the other games and wonder why they don't play their game.

Funny... I look down on all of them and wonder why they don't just play Solitaire.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

Most of the people I know who play Magic also play YGO and vice versa.

I never did get into YGO because I was too old for it. I mean seriously I was like 19 when it showed up and I just had no interest in the show and, by extension, the card game.

Magic was a big deal when I was in elementary school and I had a ton of schoolmates who played it but none of them could ever explain the rules to me without confusing me quite a bit so I just never learned

    here ya go, have fun

magic is definitely a game you have to learn by playing, and learn from someone who knows what's going on and will help you learn (which, from my experience, is most veteran players). that trout's complex and it's only gotten more complex as the game has progressed.

which is why it's so damn good

Magic's not that hard to play. Check out the rules for yourself if you want. It couldn't be easier to learn!

Dang it, Denmark beat me to it while I was distracted by #eoff

I STILL play YGO, even in High School.

Wow. And THAT'S the root of all my problems, I bet. Damn.

I have 30 year old coworkers who obsess over Yu-Gi-Oh on a daily basis. Don't worry.

To learn magic, just download a demo of one of the games on psn/xbox.

I could never get into trading card games. I've tried a few times, but I had to use another person's deck. I couldn't really get into them. If I had a deck myself and learned how to play properly, I might really enjoy these kind of games. Sadly that wasn't the case.

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

Well you have online to play them nowadays. So you could do that. If you happen to choose Yugioh you can use Dueling Network and I could teach you the game.

Yeah. There's Dueling Network for learning Yugi. Planeswalker for Magic. And there's Cray Online, an Apprentice style client for Vanguard.
