Not exactly the type of list that should be taken into consideration anymore. ;o

EDIT: There is a newer list from 2007 for AFI too. ;p
To be clear, we're not picking directly from top lists of movies. Everyone pick what you what.

Wait, if I sign up, I'm allowed to pick a movie that everyone else has to watch, but I can just say I've watched?

I changed my mind, please add me to the list.

You can just say you've watch it. How would we know?

    Be kind to us, Spuuky.

Don't you worry your little head about that. I'm well-known for my kindness around these parts.

I've already selected my movie, and I eagerly anticipate everyone's viewing of it.

    I could probably do this.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

What was it? The one where everyone landed on Pokemon?
Nah, I love the Pokemon movie. That would have been a great pick. I think the movie was called Hobo with a Shotgun. Hobo should have taken his shotgun to whoever decided to make that movie. Absolutely horrendous.

As long as this group on focuses on the classics or popcorn films with mainstream appeal then I'll go for it. But I'm not interested in watching somebody's favorite indy 'cult following' movie.

Such cowardice is unbecoming of a fine gentleman such as yourself.

You should make an exception for my movie, when we get there.

It's not cowardice, I just have better things to do than watch movies about excessive gore or moody people. I'll make an exception if you make one for mine, which will likely star Nicolas Cage.

If it's Raising Arizona, I'd like to get in on this.

Hmm. Put me down for this, although I will say that with FFXIV releasing and the wedding coming up, there may be some weeks I'll miss.

When will the first 'week' be? I'd love for it to be this week, if only because FFXIV is out next week (Saturday). xD

I don't watch much film as it is, so this is as good an excuse as any to expand my horizons. The first few weeks might be iffy since I have to prepare for the MCATs in September, but I should be able to find time.

I do have a question, though: are "so bad it's good" films fair game for this club?

I say let's stay away from the "so bad it's good" movies. I can enjoy them as much as anyone but I don't think a movie club is the right forum for them.
