A brief history of your names

[Mercen-X]

Once upon a time, there was a wily mercenary known throughout the land. After several violent battles and horrific wars, the mercenary suffered many an injury, losing limbs and becoming so scarred as to be unrecognizable as a human being. Complicated surgeries and bio-mechanical implants imparted the jack with cybernetic limbs and eyes and "he" became known as Mercen-X... or so the legend goes. Years later when the merck's trademark motorcycle helmet was removed, it was discovered that "he" was just a normal person whose name was... Mercen-X.

TL;DR... Long before I was Mercen-X... I was always Mercen-X. I did try to change my name at one point to Söldner-X which just means Mercen-X in German.

Yeah, I gave up on trying to figure out who people are. I am too lazy to go to the profile and check so I just assume it's someone who's already changed it more than twice already.

I have only changed my username once and it was just to a shorter name. I think Shlup changed my name once, Psy twice, and maybe Del Murder one time.

I had a bunch of dumb names, and then Denmark, which I've had since 2003 or something like that. That's fine by me. I wouldn't know what to change it to, and lots of people just call me Rob anyway.

[Agent Proto]

I started off as Agent Proto. Had some different names from time to time. Some notable ones include Preton, and Protozoa. I was also Blues Agent for about a year. Then I went back to Agent Proto. Besides, most people would call me Proto regardless of my screen name, that or Jeff.

Here I thought this was going to be the history on why we chose our names...

Alas, I am new so I have yet to be anyone but ThornQueen, that may change though. It started from Air Gear, and became my cosplay handle since I planned to do so many cosplays of said character... and now, I just haven't thought of anything better. xD

Escobar - Came from my love of Nas music
Bert - a nickname I have irl
Escobert - thought up by nik0tine as a combination of Escobar and Bert
Shlupbert - came from the army of Shlup
Psychic Hornet - Used in elections at one point believe
TrowaBartonIV ^_^ - Asked to go back to the original for awhile and Kishi decided it needed a face on the end.

When I joined ages ago, my original screen name was Sephex018. I just thought the numbers looked cool because I was an idiot asshole stupidhead, but I decided to drop them and PMed Dr.Unne to change my screen name.

I've had a lot of very short term names during events and there was a time I temporarily switched to 'Daniel' but realised how stupid that was shortly afterwards. Loony BoB for life!

Das Lynx. I joined the forum because I knew Citizen Bleys and Raistlin, people I had met via AO and PI, and thought they were lovely company. I used this moniker as an aberration of Genius Lynx because Bleys was nicknaming me and heck, why not? But then I realized it felt too stiff, militaristic, and German for a dumb American, so after Shlup put me through a minor genderbending event, I moved onto bigger, better things...

It says "spy" but everyone reads "creative genius".

Genius Lynx. This dumb name (what a great name) was the result of a Metal Gear Solid Codename Generator. Put in a name and get a codename, simple as that. A lot of my friends tried it in Accounting class, and only mine was really good. So when I needed a less obnoxious name on ezBoard, I decided to Solid Snake it up and be a member of FOXHOUND. That was cool, and a lot of people refer to me as this, but I felt life needed a little spice, so I became...

Where do you keep your honeypot?

Chocolate Thief Locke. I wanted something that said "Final Fantasy" and "funny", so I immaturely copped out on a rude term for a homosexual man and Locke Cole because he is a thief, you know? It was not much of a stretch to make him a lover of men if you ignore all the canon ever. Anyway, I started getting annoyed at all the Private Messages I got from interested men, so I went for a change of pace...

Agent Umaro, meet laser. I expect you to die.

Her Majesty's Agent Umaro. I somehow thought this was a Bond reference. I thought Umaro as James Bond would be killer cool. Well, he was, people loved it, but then people started confusing me with Big Ugly Umaro (BOU), a Recognzied Member from back in the day. That was flattering, but nothing sucks more when your secret identity is similar enough to another person's identity that you keep getting stopped to talk about the heydays you never had. I was so frustrated, and then I thought, "Yeah, this will be a good idea..."

By Murder I Will Be Rydia. Boom, third Final Fantasy reference and a pun. Never mind how long it is; the last two names were long enough, so what is the problem with this? Also, I totally got to design on of my favorite avatar and signature sets ever, and that was awesome. However, no one wanted to type this name out and I do not blame them. BMIWBR? rubah in particular was not pleased and when another year blew around, she was like, "Can I change your name? I am going to change your name..."

Garnet Eiko LAX 2009 EXTREME. I do not even. It has Garnet and Eiko in it because IX is great? And LAX in it because Los Angeles is where she wanted to be? And 2009 because it was 2008/2009? I have no clue. This was horrible and I put on my Champagneful persona to help this trainwreck burn out best. Del Murder has an aneurysm and forcibly changed me back to Genius Lynx because all of it was so offensively bad. I did not blame him. Anyway, barring any grand insight or joke, I felt the Lynx name was going to stick and settled down to happily keep it. ...That is, until Shlup said this, and I had no choice but to comply.

Madonna. And so here I am and I love this name. Shlup, in all honesty, looks fantastic and not like she was born in 1958, and everything else looks great.

I used to be Lekana. Then I wanted to represent my FF love, so I changed to freya. I've now been freya longer than I was Lekana
