    Default Acoustic versions of songs

When I think of my favorite acoustic version of a song, the first thing that comes to mind is Everlong by Foo Fighters.

I like hearing alternate versions of songs that are loud and/or fast or involve a lot of different instruments and seeing how they work in a (often times) slower melody with a single instrument. I dislike when the song is changed for the sake of an acoustic version. (example, Placebo - Every You and Every Me)

    Some other favorites~

Alkaline Trio - Every Thug Needs a Lady - My favorite Alkaline Trio acoustic version of any song.
Alkaline Trio - Emma - A perfect example of how Matt and Dan's harmony works so well together.
Alkaline Trio - Private Eye - "this song's for Dexter"
Brand New - The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows - aaaah I melted when I first heard this
Metric - Help, I'm Alive - completely haunting.
Panic! At the Disco - Lying - I love acoustic Panic! songs because they show just how amazing Brendon Urie's natural voice is.
Panic! At the Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Panic! At the Disco - Nine in the Afternoon
Shiny Toy Guns - You Are The One - The whistling freaked me out at first, but they came through.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps - A regular fixture for my acoustic playlists.

YouTube 'em yourself, this is from my playlist. Anyway, I have lovely acoustic versions of these songs...

Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
    Colin Hay - Overkill
the goo goo dolls - Iris
    Tina Arena - Burn
Bryan Adams - I'll Always Be Right There
Bryan Adams - When You Love Someone (this happens to be the song Danielle & I chose as our first dance)

I probably have more but can't be arsed figuring out which are acoustic and which aren't. These were kindly labelled as acoustic or from Bryan Adams' MTV Unplugged album.

Recording quality isn't the best and it's not what you'd typically think when you think acoustic version of a song, but I've always been fond of this piano version of Tool's Lateralus: Lateralus - Tool piano cover - YouTube

Never ceases to amaze me that that guy did such an excellent job reworking a song like that for piano alone. I'll have to track down some other acoustic songs I like though.

I love all links from the first post. <3

Company of Thieves have some great acoustic versions of their songs. This was the video that got me into them, despite its bad quality: Company of Thieves - Oscar Wilde (Acoustic) - YouTube

    I'll add more later

    Edit:
Acoustic covers rather than acoustic versions by the original artist:

Bon Iver - I Can't Make You Love Me / Nick of Time - YouTube
James Blake - A Case Of You (Joni Mitchell cover) - YouTube
Ozark - Black Hole Sun - beautiful piano version - YouTube

Cash's version of Hurt goes without mention, but I'm mentioning it anyway.

There's only one acceptable acoustic song ever: Hotel California.

I also love piano versions of things, which I'm too lazy to list.
