Corgis aren't small dogs; they're *medium dogs with no legs.

After owning a couple different generations of shepherds, huskies, and lab mixes, I'd have to say that Corgis are diminutive medium dogs. They're definitely not small though. And they've got the heart of a big dog, so that's good.
