Thread: Walking Dead Season 8 - Unmarked spoilers for aired eps in thread

I don't understand the trope of "lose a black guy, gain a black guy" in a show with 6 black characters. They've done an excellent job of blowing that tired joke out of the water. You might have had a case when T-Dog bowed out and Tyreese showed up (if you overlook Oscar) as the joke stems from "token black guy", but now it's just redundant.

  2. #437
You're right and the joke's been dead for awhile, but I still think it's funny.

  3. #438
That is correct, but there's a half truth to the joke. SAG does have minority requirements for all union shows. They must meet criteria of having a minority character, this oddly enough includes women even though women are a majority. It also includes elderly. It's basically Affirmative Action. The Walking Dead is the only show that has managed to have such a diverse primary cast.

In other news, another black guy is going to be dead this season.

How did they survive in a hospital in overrun bombed out Atlanta for years?

How is the cast even still close to Atlanta after all the traveling they've done? Do they just wander in circles which happen to have these weird communities full of smurfed up morons in close proximity to each other?

How did Beth make perfect head shots in the dark shooting one handed with a bandaged hand?

How did a guy with a limp manage to walk right through a pack of zombies unscathed?

    Mysteries of the universe.

Beth's parents were both Stormtroopers, so it's like a double negative. Duh.

    Yeah, a TRUTH monster.

Also, the scene with Beth and Noah walking through the zombies was stupid contrived and made no sense. I think it was poorly written in the first place, and then poorly acted by Emily and also poorly edited. That's a lot of poorly. Del's correct, except it's not all that mysterious, just sad/annoying.

You put only the video id that comes after the "=" in the url--so in this case, rNxvo8AcpQQ--between the btag.

I actually wondered about these things too. It still makes no sense to me how Beth, who is a great shot was not able to get away from the zombies, and yet a guy limping was. No sense. They needed better blocking or something where it would have made sense instead of him walking right through the zombies.

Abraham has p.much the opposite story of Rick. Which just makes me due inside.

I think Abraham and Rick are more alike than the show and the characters themselves let on. They're both pretty unraveled, leaders, strong physical survival capability but completely dependent on other people for their own emotional survival.
