I was protecting his butt from them.
I grew my hair out in highschool mostly because I didn't actually care to cut it. Side effect of listening to metal. Now I let my hair grow below my eyes before cutting it. I think long hair is rad but it's a bit of a hassle to maintain. Go for it man, try it out, see if you like it. What's the worst that's gonna happen?

Weekend of rugby for your resident Cardiffian, starting last night with the Amlin Challenge Cup final which I barely remember, and today where I managed to blag my way into some tickets for the Heineken Cup final (for the unwashed masses of North Americans, this is the rugby equivalent of the World Series) with an old cricketing mate (I'm the one without manboobs).
