I had my phone on me during the basketball game at the sports bar for like 10 minutes since they wouldn't put the music on until it was over. Just before I hit the dance floor, I left my phone in my bag with the friends still sitting around. But I don't think having a phone with me is a terrible thing. But I know how to keep a real life conversation at the same time without being that distracted by it. Of course, I only speak for myself. One of my friends is obsessed with taking pictures, so she kept hers with her on the dance floor and kept taking photos/videos of us.
