Ok, I have to say, I really, really hate this argument (just in general, I am still trying to avoid spoilers, so I'm not actually reading your ending spoilers). But I have to say, the "you just didn't understand it" argument is a completely ridiculous claim 95% of the time I hear it. People said that about Mass Effect III's ending. But I definitely understood that one (more than most of the defenders of it did, in fact), it was just badly written and out of place for the series. It is simply a happy ending like it was announced.
All of your posts and descriptions got me excited (except for the whole "time limit" thing, because that's still a horrible idea in an RPG), but that one line is honestly having me question whether I want to pick this up. I highly doubt it's going to be an ending I don't understand. But I don't want to go through another unsatisfying ending to a long series. FFXIII-2's ending was pathetic enough as it is, I'd rather pass on a repeat.
