I thought the first three X films were pretty dang good, but the fact that they started out with a fresh story was almost guaranteed. They had to sum up the first 20 years of the comics in "pastiche" form before moving on to something more recognizable, and it kind of took them two movies to do it. Then the cure story arc comes in, and I was thinking, "this is looking cool."

But they never followed up on the open ending of X3, did they?
