I would say Jiro has a good point about the Iguions, but then again, why is there a card of Squall, Selphie, etc in this game that's famous around the world.

I stand by the thinking that the Iguions don't really exist before they are brought to life by Edea. Maybe they fit into VIII mythology somewhere.
