EoFF Plays FF XIII and XIII-2: Let's all Play!

Let's all play Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2!

If you didn't know already, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII comes out next month. In fact it comes out February 11th for NA fans, the 13th for AU and the 14th for EU. In preparation for the release we're going to play through the first two games! If you haven't played the games, this is the perfect time. If you haven't beat them, why not try again? Some of you have already played it though and beat it! Well, we have some challenges for those who would like them. But why should you do the challenges? For chocobos of course! If you complete a challenge then you can get a chocobo next to your username!

How will we know if you've actually done the challenge though? This is where you come in. You'll just have to show a screenshot or picture of your progress. Beginning, middle and end time stamps! So this can be a save file, or a screenshot of whatever the challenge pertains to. Heck you can just play the game and have fun! Just beating the game even gets you a chocobo! Chocobos for everyone! If you play that is.

Complete all Hands of Time puzzles without using a website that solves them for you

Serah and Noel can only use one role each throughout game

XIII and XIII-2 you can't get screenshots unless you have special equipment to do so probably, which is unfortunate. I'm going to use my cell phone camera probably. It is a bit more of a hassle just because things tend to be blurry and it's hard for it to look decent, but it can work for the purposes of this play through .

This is by far the most difficult challenge up there. How can one play without hearing Vanille's orgasms?

I'll play XIII-2 for this month. As good timing would have it, I started a new playthrough in December and haven't gotten past the first area as of yet, so I'm ready to go

I'll do the following for sure. I'll update if I attempt any of the other ones.

I'm doing good if I just beat the game. That will probably be my only accomplishment in this probably,haha. Yay FF XIII!

Okay, some progress made. Finished Chapter 3, I think. I love the icey lake level. It's beautiful. I would play it over and over again.

For a refresher, her are the challenges I am going for:

I haven't used any Eidolons (I just got Shiva :P) and I won't but I'm not 100% sure how to capture that in photo.

Anyways, I assume I can level up my starter weapons and just not change for another weapon. If that's an issue, let me know. I haven't touched them yet.

Gonna purchase the all in one DLC bundle today which has a majority of the XIII-2 DLC for a discounted price. Looking forward to seeing some things for the first time!

It starts. Here's my screen just showing that I started from the beginning I guess. I'm not doing any challenges aside from completing the game!



Picture heavy adventure up through the beginning of Lake Bresha And so the story begins with people wearing these silly robes on a train:



Through the magic of snapping her fingers, Square's favorite heroine, Lightning, started hopping around the train, beating up soldiers. After generally showing how awesome she is, Lightning and her newfound friend with the frocobo get off the train and discuss how Lightning is an ex-SOLDIER. Rebels hijacking a train to fight the oppressive government, the "main" person once being a soldier for that government. Hmm...



Sazh is checking out Clou... I mean Lightning. You can tell he wants to talk to her, but he's just shy and not sure what to say. Young love!


...And she rejected him. He's trying to think of some way to fix his situation, obviously. Also notice that straight line in the map corner? Don't expect it to change much.



Now we move to Snow. You can't see very well, but he's threatening to beat up this kid. That kid is very sad at how much of a bully Snow is.


Here, Snow just gave a machine gun to a kid. Vanille with a good should be all the evidence we need for better gun control laws.

Everyone decides to go chase down this Pulse Fal'Cie. Snow and Lightning to find Serah (Snow's fiance and Lightning's sister), Hope and Vanille to find Snow, and Sazh because he has nothing better to do. They succeed in finding Serah!


... but Serah turned to Crystal. Somewhere along the lines I meet the fal'Cie Anima and kick its butt. Everyone has visions and hallucinations after interacting with Anima.

To summarize my experience so far, i walked down a long hallway and kept pressing X while talking on #eoff until cutscenes happened. I will be doing less of that once battles actually start giving experience and I start caring a little more about them, haha.

Ya know I really like the intro in XIII. My biggest problem is that intro GOES TOO LONG. other than that, I like the whole train and escaping and l'cie and yeah.
