So I just got a Ponyta in XY and I can't deal with how much damage it dishes out. Can't wait for it to evolve into a Rapidash.
Delphox is underrated. Do many people complain about how terrible a design it has. I find it endearing and love it for breaking the fire/fighting cycle.
I've been a lover of Rapidash since Platinum, so I'm happy it's getting some more love.
Why does evolution equal ugliness? Not that Rapidash is ugly but it certainly isn't as adorable as Ponyta. And what about Growlithe and Arcanine? That Dark Pokemon that looks like an evil Vulpix also gets ugly. Hell isn't there even cat Pokemon that is all over this later on? Goes from pretty glammy cat to fat ass.
Also I've never heard anything about Breloom but it saved my ass during my first real run of a Pokemon game. i was playing a somewhat challenging Romhack and if not for Breloom's awesome Grass draining techs to start off with and great Fighting moves later on, I'd have been boned so many times. After Gengar, it was the best help against the Elite Four and Champion.

That's actually a good question. I remember I kept stopping Charmander from evolving because I thought his second and final stage wasn't as appealing as his first.
I absolutely hate Delphox personally, not the designand the fantastic porn of itIGNORE THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN. Ahem, I hate it because my friend busts the damn thing out and uses it to either troll by switcheroo-ing choice specs onto a utility pokemon or choice-specs flame blast or psychic spamming my guise.
Underrated pokemon?
No seriously, SERIOUSLY. I'm the god-king of under-appreciated pokemon.
Dunsparse and Beedrill are two guys in that category that have been workhorses of mine since their debuts. I owe a lot of my early game in Pokemon Y to a Dunsparse I caught named Zen Bag. Zen steamrolled the first few gyms for me with rollout and double edge, and Beedrill has been in my team for a lot of the later game, even saving my ass from a run-in with the final boss's (SPOILER)Mega-Gyarados by dropping some tender poison jabs when the nasty thing had actually started rolling me.
I don't think evolution is always ugly. It certainly is sometimes, and evolving some Pokemon has made me sad for that reason (Horsea), but some I think look good. I think Vulpix is cuter, but Ninetails certainly isn't ugly. Also, I think Arcanine looke 100 times better than Growlithe. Growlithe is adorable, but Arcanine looks so beautiful to me. Another example is Houndour and Houndoom. Houndoor is cute, but I much prefer when it has transformed in to Houndoom. Meowth and Persian. I would take a Persian over a Meowth any day.
They become more majestic and/or badass most of the time, actually.
