Dang, they moved fast on the Fault Within Our Stars adaptation didn't they?
From the list I've read:
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - Seriously guys, the books are actually pretty good. The lead character is a bodyguard, so not your typical Bella-esque character. But the movie looks so unbelievably bad. Like, one of the worst trailers I've ever seen in my life. Ugh.
Divergent by Veronica Roth - Terrible series that doesn't make any kind of sense. I cannot understand how this got so popular. I assume the movie will be bad too, but dang, they got Kate Winslet roped in somehow!
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - Loved the book, I think the movie will be trout.
The Giver by Lois Lowry - One of my absolute favs growing up. I have no idea how it will translate onto film. I have a feeling it won't be terrible though.
This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper - I thought this book was so forgettable. I have no idea why it came so highly recommended, I thought it was boring. But I can see how it would work as a film. In fact, I bet it would be better as a film.
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - As soon as I saw this on the list I wondered who was directing, and hoped it might be David Fincher. I can't imagine another director more suited for it. I think it might be great.
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand - I am such a hardcore fan of this book! I was recommending it left and right when it first came out. Love love love. I don't know how well it would do as an adaptation though. Hillenbrand's other book Seabiscuit was also tremendously good, but the movie was so blaaaaah. Unbroken is one of those stories that is so unbelievable that all the historical facts and thorough research presented in the books is really what helps give the story its incredible weight and magnitude. On screen, it might just come across as another hollywood war movie.
Wild by Cheryl Strayed - I only got halfway through this book before getting distracted. I remember liking what I read though. I should probably go back and finish it.
