    I always turn them off when I play FFVI. I'll turn then on for a couple of battles and grab a screenshot to show how that looks.

    I still really, really, really, really hate the character sprites. I think they're disgusting.

    But I also really like the character portraits.

    Yeah. Some of the background environments look neat too, but in a totally different style to the characters so ugh. I will hate this forever.

    Turns out there is no ATB gauge in this mobile port. Each character's command menu slowly rises up from the bottom of the screen and when it's reached full height that character can act.

    I haven't really changed my opinion. I still think the sprites look too flat and bland

    It is possible that they just upscaled the original sprites, cleaned up the outline borders and added a tiny bit of detail by hand on top of that. Then again, I've only played around with the Lobo sprite so far, and I suppose important bosses could have gotten a more complete makeover.. The proportions and details on the lobo line up so perfectly that I'd say at least this sprite is very likely to be mostly not drawn anew for this version of the game.
