    Default Mortal Kombat

It wasn't enough to be an awesome fighting game, it had to be a movie! And a cartoons show! And a live action series!

The first Mortal Kombat, while I could go on about some negatives now, was awesome for the most part. The cast was splendid and it was one of the movies I saw in theaters in 1995. I remember covering my eyes at the scene where Johnny Cage kills Scorpion. Yeah, I so was not ready for Mortal Kombat at that stage in my life.

The second Mortal Kombat movie that came out two years later, and only had three returning cast members with only two reprising their roles, is one of those 'it's so bad it becomes good' movies. Seriously. You have to see it to believe it. I can still watch it now because of how bad it is.

Raiden: As long as I have the power, Kahn, you will never have earth realm.
Shao Kahn: And as long as the portals remain open your world becomes my world! Muhahaha!

    Hilarious.

I only saw a couple of episodes of the cartoon and didn't care about it much, but I watched a lot of the live action series and loved it. The Scorpion who did the first movie also guest starred in two episodes of that. Granted, his voice was horrible, but still that was pretty cool. And IMO Mortal Kombat Conquest has the best adapted Shao Kahn out of all of them. That final episode where Raiden and Shao Kahn (both played by the same actor) was AWESOME! They redeemed Rain in that too after how terrible his role in the second movie was.

    Discuss.

    My opinion.

Mortal Kombat - pretty much the only decent Beat 'em Up adaption. Next to Street Fighter with Jean-Claude Van Damme which is so trashy that it is funny.

I checked out season one of the web series and enjoyed it immensely. Don't care too much about their Shao Kahn but everything else has been great. I love Jeri Ryan as Sonya.

Robin Shou hasn't aged a day.

I smurfing love the Mortal Kombat movies.

Everyone's got that thing where they're like "yes, my childhood!" The MK movies are that thing for me. I watched them so many times. I still play that techno theme song at full volume in my car every day. The best things from the movies:

Mortal Kombat Annihilation - Queen Sindel - YouTube

Orbital - Halcyon On and On - YouTube
(This song played at the end of Mortal Kombat and Mean Girls, my two favorite movies that start with the letter M!)

Orbital is one of my favorite songs on the soundtrack. Both soundtracks were so awesome. I played the cassette tape of the first one's soundtrack until it died T_T

    OMG I KNOW RIGHT!!

In Season 2 of the web series the guy that played DK in Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift is Liu Kang I believe. It was ages ago when I watched season 1, so apparently season 2 is already out.

Didn't Jeri Ryan play Sonya in the 2nd movie?? I much preferred Bridget Wilson over Jeri, 'cuz she's freaking gorgeous.

And I love Talisa Soto as Kitana. *drools*

No, that was Sandra Hess. Jeri Ryan would have been doing Voyager around that time.

The problem with Ms. Wilson is that, while she was beautiful, she couldn't really fight. Which is a problem in a movie about martial arts. Her sole battle in MK, against Kano, was pretty bad in terms of actual action

No doubt that Kitana was the most gorgoeus girl in the film though.

But ya know, this fight is one of the best in the film IMO.

Lisen to dat muisc. And ya know this fight actually has some emotional power behind it. You feel so sorry for that guy. First he has to fight a juggernaut gets himself killed, and then his immortal soul is stolen. The screams at the end really sell it too.

I'm that guy that's always been a fan of the ninjas. I think my favorite is Reptile. Maybe Kenshi after that.

Mortal Kombat 2 is probably still my favorite.

    Character treatment:
Liu Kang - decent (I originally knew the actor from Beverly Hills Ninja)
    Annihilation Liu Kang - eh
Johnny Cage - loved it (I became a fan of the actor ever since)
Annihilation Johnny - wha? (seriously, they replace the actor and then instantly kill him)
Legacy Johnny - oh, come on!
Scorpion - well, at least they used the voice, lol "Get DOWN here!"
    Baraka - agh...
Reptile - wait, first it was Chameleon then it was Reptile? Is that how that works?
    Sub-Zero - I didn't like the way he died.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

I think they killed him off in the movie since he died in the second game.

    I agree, Sub-Zero got a crappy deal.

I heard that Cameron Diaz was originally going to play Sonja but she broke her wrist and she's real bummed out about that.
