So, any comments about the nominees? Surprised to see anyone listed or disappointed about those who've been snubbed? Is this the year that Leonardo finally wins an Oscar? Let's talk Oscars!

All I can say is that Gravity had better win ALL THE AWARDS. Especially the cinematography and visual effects ones; I have no idea how they pulled off some of those shots. Sandra Bullock probably deserves another Best Actress though and Cuarón might deserve Best Director because holy trout. It would also be nice to see a sci-fi film win Best Picture, although it probably won't because the Academy is run by stodgy old smurfs who can't understand genre fiction.

    Go Amy Adams!!!!!!!!

Also, I'd love Pharrell's song to win Original Song too, just because it's so damn catchy. I have a feeling the song from Frozen might get it though.

Only recognize a few of those names and I expect the winner of Best Picture will be something that nobody watching has even heard of before.

w00t! w00t! Ellen DeGeneres! I'll most likely watch just because she's hosting.

Why the discussion of 12 Years A Slave needs to refocus | Den of Geek

Interesting (and, to my mind, quite accurate) editorial about the coverage of 12 Years a Slave in the media.

I wish Before Midnight got more than just one :[ But what can ya do. I'm rooting for Gravity in various things and Cate Blanchett for Best Actress if Bullock doesn't take it. I look forward to the Internet exploding with outrage when [personal choice] doesn't take [some award] while others set out to prove how unimportant award shows are by paying attention to them.

I've only seen The Hobbit. Really wish I had seen Gravity in theaters so I could be validated when it inevitably sweeps the awards this year.
