Are RPGs exclusive to games with turn-based battles? Fallout and Tomb Raider are considered RPGs and they doesn't have those.
I wouldn't consider Fallout or Tomb Raider to be RPGs. Those are action games.

They are FPS action games, true, but that doesn't exclude them from being RPGs.
In that sense anything can be an RPG. Stuff like Borderlands or God of War could even be RPGs.

You don't think Borderlands is an RPG?
Being turn-based has nothing to do with being an RPG. Dragon Age is definitely an RPG. Fallout is definitely an RPG. Oblivion, Skyrim, and Morrowind are definitely RPGs. Borderlands is definitely an RPG.

Of late there has been a trend towards blending RPG elements into almost every other genre that understandably makes drawing definitive lines tricky at times. But Borderlands very definitely hews at the "RPG" end of the spectrum and if you don't agree you either don't understand Borderlands or you don't understand genres. hth!
Why are we discussing Borderlands, it's a bad game regardless of genre?
