16-bit Story Recap of FINAL FANTASY XIII
The North American and European launch of Lightning Returns: FINAL FANTASY XIII is now less than couple of weeks away. Perhaps you never played FINAL FANTASY XIII or XIII-2, or you just never finished them? Well just incase you were wondering what the story so far was, or even if you'd just like to see both games re-imagined as 16-bit classics, Square Enix have decided to indulge you. Nearly 8 minutes of sprite artwork and MIDI-fied music await you!
This is so awesome! I wish they had used SNES music instead of 8-bit music, since it clashes with the 16-bit SFX in some places, but overall I'm very surprised modern Square even had it in them to put something like this together. The spritework is fantastic! Maybe someday we'll get a new FF game with this look as a spinoff or something.
Also, are these versions of the songs new tracks, or did they come from the chiptune albums they put out a while back? I could have sworn I'd heard that Blinded By Light before.

Why couldn't this game really exist?The feeling with those sprites running around is so whimsical and FUN.
Some of the music is from SQ Chips - The Final Fantasy Wiki has more Final Fantasy information than Cid could research Highly recommended, it's a great album, along with SQ Chips 2.
This really would have been a great game.

One of the best things SE has made in a while. I probably would have enjoyed the XIII games more if they were in this format. But man, that story is convoluted as smurf. XIII was ok but when it got to XIII-2 it was almost a parody of itself.
