Vanille or Fang as the main character would have truly meant something, in terms of a "return". Lightning never really disappeared. I mean, not really. She did, but she didn't. We still heard her voice as a narrator, as if she was stalking Serah and Noel the entire time in XIII-2. Iunno, it's a philosophical question with no real answer.
I'd go with Snow, just because in every game he becomes more and more of a fashionista. Or maybe Caius, so I can slap Yeul for being a moron? D:
