What is this? Game of thrones? Just killing a character in episode two doodeeleedoo.

    Ughhh

I was thinking it was his redemption arc for the season cause he started to balk at Vince. Which Vince is scrambling cause he made bad investment choices.

    What's with he crow people?!

Well that was an unexpected twist.

Pleasantly surprised by McAdams' acting so far, but also Farrell's. Vaughn has been okay but nothing special. Kitsch is alright too. The storyline isn't super exciting yet, but the script is pretty good.

This show is boring. I quit. Someone just please let me know what happens to Colin's character. I'm way too done with this show to invest anymore time. It puts me to sleep.

This is a boring show...so was the first season, but you had to let it build, then it got good once you saw the foundation being laid. I think s1 only started to show how good it really was in ep 4? So yeah...this one did well enough with that ending lol. I was also bored kinda just passively watching it, and then was like wat at the end lol.

In my opinion this season is no more or less boring than season 1 was content wise (up to this point), but one of my favourite things in season 1 was simply listening to Woody and Matthew's characters speak. They could have been reading off the back of orange juice cartons and I still would have enjoyed it. In contrast, this season everyone is a low talking mumbler which leaves me craning my neck to try and hear what's being said and it isn't particularly enjoyable.

I'm confident the plot will pick up steam in the next few episodes though.

I think this is really hard to keep up with what's going on but I'll persevere with it because it will reach a point where it will click most likely - and I'm interested enough in all of the main characters to keep watching.

Does anyone else think that Paully is a homophobic gay after this weeks episode? It could explain why he took viagra to sleep with that woman if he's not sexually interested, and also he said he got hit on by a male and he wanted to beat him up. He was then watching what I assume was a gay prostitute from the window... I wonder if he is either a HUUUUGE homophobe and is going to beat that guy up, or if he is gay himself but hates it. It can also be another reason why he's so pissed off about the blow job story.

Also incredibly pleased with Rachel McAdams' acting, as well as Vince Vaughn's. The very first scene of this episode when he's lying in bed with his woman talking about getting locked in the basement was so surreal. Watch it again and look at how he conveys his story just through his facial expressions. His eyes moving and staring. He looks so deadpan but he's still twitching in a way through his glances, like he's reliving being back there, locked in that pitch black basement. I take back my sarcasm about him. I've never seen him pull off a scene like that.

Colin Ferrell I was down with in the first episode, but this one just... made me sortof question what the smurf his character was good for. He's a plot device? Great. Thanks a lot, asses. What value did his character provide? He was Vince's main guy on the inside, and now he's going to have to struggle? I don't even know.

As Tara said, I, too, am having trouble following exactly what is all happening right now and why we're supposed to care. Maybe it's be as Philip also said, I am having to crane my smurfing neck into the tv in order to catch any notion about the conversation at hand so maybe I am missing some things.

Same on all accounts. I absolutely loved listening to Woody and Matthew's characters. It was one of the driving features of season one for me. It worked so well in keeping the story flowing from one happening to the next, from past to present, drawing parallels between scenes and allowing the viewers to read between the lines. Without that now, the show seems lacking.

The gay thing did cross my mind when I saw him take out the viagra. I read something somewhere else, though, that seemed to imply that he is a thrill-chaser and that he can't ride high unless some major adrenaline is involved like doing things like racing down the canyon on a motorcycle with his lights off or getting sucked off by an actress. Could be why he took a job as a cop, and then moved up to a detective. It sortof made me believe it a little more when his lady friend was like, "You aren't right." I'm glad she stood up for herself.

Either way, I totally hate his character. I hate him. I just hate him.

I dunno. I just don't know right now. I really enjoy the LA noire David Lynchian Mulholland Drive feel. I can dig it. But if this season wasn't riding so hard on the coattails of season one, I might not otherwise still continue watching.

It's only the second episode, though, and some new mysteries have cropped up. I hope the next episode picks up a little more.

I really enjoyed the opening scene too. I'm very intrigued by Rachel McAdam's sexual freaky stuff she has going on. I wonder if the commune is a cult and she was subject to some abuse or something - who knows. There are a lot of minor things going on that interest me way more than the main murder at this point.

Naaah this show is losing me. Good shoutout but still, why should I care about any of these characters?

You're missing how the story is coming together. I read an interesting theory that uses bits like the intro song "i live among you, well disguised" and the purposeful omissions of Paul Woodrough's life (his dad, what he did after Blackrock) to show that HE IS THE BIRDMAN. And his dad is Caspere, the guy in the beginning. He is the one doing it all, but he's so messed up that he doesn't remember doing any of it. He and McAdams are some of the children that were used by the pedohpiles in the first season that Woody and Rust discovered. Boom. Let that sink in and see if it unfolds this way.

I dunno that shoot out was pretty cool.

I dunno about that theory though. I'll keep up with it to see how it pans out but yeah it's not as good so far as last season.

I will continue to watch this for Vince Vaughn though, he's like my dirty guilty crush.

I agree that it's not living up to the previous season so far, but I suppose I didn't really expect it to. I still really enjoy most of the scenes, though. They nail the atmosphere much like the first season did, but it's missing the brilliant dialogue (even though I appreciate that they're trying).

That shootout was intense. Great editing.
