That is debatable. As much as I like the original Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy VII had a much more dimensional storyline, and was able to achieve profoundness on several themes. Final Fantasy IV felt like a cheap opera at times, and the themes rushed. Because, well, its only the fourth installment.
True, I just meant it handled the theme of redemption remarkably well. Plus, the DS version makes it much less cheesy. And also, this was my personal thank you, not a fact, so please, refrain from debating it and post your own
