Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
Dirge of Cerberus. This game had plenty of potential, but delivered more than a few let-downs. I'd like to make a fair number of additions and deletions...
Add:
- Decent third-person gameplay, including greater agility and far more lifelike enemy AI.
- More Limit Break transformations.
- A target lock button (a la the early Syphon Filter games) to make acrobatic combat more natural.
- A UI that evokes the fonts, colours and layout of the original FFVII more closely.
- The ability to climb ladders somewhat faster than an arthritic snail.
- Much greater freedom to explore locations, both new and old. Where's the value in making us watch the bullet-dodging aerlial invasion of Midgar in a cut-scene, then not letting us take control of Vincent on his hoverboard?
- Way more involvement from the original FFVII cast. I'd especially like it if the final invasion into Deepground territory required you to split the heroes into 'parties of three', just like the original game - creating three strike teams to handle each part of the operation, and getting to fight alongside any two of the returning characters.
- Decent resolution to Dr Rui's story arc
Remove:
- 90% of the Deepground forces, so they're an elite unit rather than an entire freaking city-sized army.
- Most of the story's sickeningly-high civilian death toll. It really feels like Deepground managed to ravage entire populations wantonly, creating a disaster far worse than anything suffered during the original game, and that really bothers me.
- Hojo cheating death through the power of the internet, 'cause that trout be whack yo.
VII, graphical spit shine, a modern battle system and online co-op. Yeah, online co-op. Hear me out on this. You know when you watch an awesome movie with friends and it's such a good shared experience? I just think it'd be awesome to experience the fantastic FFVII with friends and assorted EoFFers.
I agree with remaking DoC. It had more potential than any of the other Compilation entries and yet it squandered most of it.
I want more backstory and development for the Tsviets.
Get rid of Hojo and have just regular Weiss be the bad guy.
Actually show us the damned Cloud vs. Rosso fight!
Make Lucrecia actually sympathetic instead of a monster on par with Hojo.
VII for me. Nothing too drastic though. Make the character models consistent throughout gameplay, battle and cut scenes. Nice HD coating. Keep all the pre-rendered backgrounds. Enhanced sound. Make Mukki a playable character.
I would want a remake and widespread release on Vita and/or 3DS of Before Crisis. I don't remember much about it, but I remember being pretty intrigued about it when it was first coming out in Japan. I don't know enough about it to know what changes I would want made, but I would just like the chance to experience it.
I think I should have been more clear about this. Only the new titles in the Compilation are allowed. You can't choose VII itself, only things like Advent Children or Crisis Core for example.

This is an amazing idea, just think if you could all control 1 character... it would be such great fun to tackle bosses as a group.
I also would remake VII, it is the best one of the compilation after all. I would add voices and graphical shine, then tweak a few summons and probably get rid of KotR and replace it with something else.
I would also add a group limit system where all three of your character's does a move unique to them... sort of like the 3 person moves in Chrono Trigger.
I'd remove Genesis from the mako reactor where Sephiroth and Cloud find those experiments. STOP CHANGING TROUT!
I'd remove Genesis from the entire game. It's not as though he's a part of FFVII's story. Nor do you need him to make Crisis Core interesting. The entire story of Sephiroth's insanity and Zack's conflicts, such as the conflict between his feelings for Aeris and his role in SOLDIER. His "war buddy" friendship with Sephiroth versus his feelings about Sephiroth's obvious insanity. There was so much potential to this game that I feel was wasted to have a cookie cutter villain that no one liked, was badly retconned into a place he didn't belong, and served no purpose to the overall story.
Also, I'd remove the slot machine. Down with RNG based gameplay.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.
He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.
I actually agree. I think Genesis would have been better received as a character had he been implemented in another main installment like the upcoming FF15.
Jack: How do you know?
Will: It's more of a feeling really.
Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?
Will: No.
If Demolition Man were remade today
Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
Huxley: NO!
Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
Spartan: But Huxley.
Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.
By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.
I was indifferent towards Genesis overall and don't care if he's in the game or not, I just didn't like him in that scene since I hate when they redo scenes from previous installments like that. It's a pet peeve of mine. I blame George Lucas.
I think it would be a better film actually.
