1. Pre-conciousness era:
This was one of the more memorable tunes our doorbell played.
Johannes Brahms - Lullaby - YouTube
except instead of a pleasant string orchestra it was piercing beeps
2. Early-conciousness era:
This is the earliest commercially recorded non-videogame song I can remember hearing.
Queen - We Will Rock You - YouTube
This is the earliest video game song I can remember hearing. I didnt appreciate the genius of seemingly creating multiple layers in monophony until much later.

3. My First Mp3 player:
I dont remember what the first song I put on my mp3 player was but this would probably have been very early if not the one.

This was my favourite song at the time
Billy Joel - Uptown Girl (Audio) - YouTube
There was also a lot of FF music and generic 90's pop (it was before I knew better)
4. Learning to Music
This was the first song I took it upon myself to learn on keyboard
Final Fantasy III (SNES) Music - Aria di Mezzo Carattere - YouTube
This was the song I played for my HSC (Highschool Certificate) music practical
Naruto - Wind / ???? [Lyrics On Screen] - YouTube
This was the soundtrack I studied for my Viva voce section
The End of Evangelion (Full Soundtrack) - YouTube
There was also a composition which I wont dig up.
5. Songs I found from watching Glee
Before Glee the majority of my music knowledge was Anime and Videogames, but as cringe worthy as some of the performances and plot of Glee, it was a great source of musical introduction for things like old rock to which I had never been exposed or modern music which I use to think was all just indiscernible bass and drums
Meat Loaf - Paradise By The Dashboard Light - YouTube

Imagine Dragons - It's Time - (HD) - YouTube
6. Getting a Harmonica
I found I was wasting 15+ minutes a day walking from the station to university so I decided to spend the time learning the harmonica. Also my mp3 player was only 1gb and I never knew what to delete so I liked the idea of a portable music device with an infinite playlist.
That's when I started getting enjoying country music, because it's easy to play and the lyrics don't remind me of my own life. I was pretty stressed at the time so I liked the simplicity and escapism.
John Denver - Take Me Home, Country Roads - YouTube
Though honestly Im an uncultured swine who prefers listening to country rock songs about drinking
Beers Ago- Toby Keith Lyrics - YouTube
7. When I got a car and a 80 gb Ipod
Pretty much everything I've listed before now except where before I only had a listened to a few songs from each artist repeatedly, now when there's an artist with at least 3 songs I like I'll grab their whole discography or a greatest hits album.
Bonus:
Since my first monophonic nokia to my second polyphonic phone to my mp3 playing smartphone, some version of this song has been my ringtone
