I've always had mixed feelings about Amarant, largley cause I just don't feel like he meshes well with the rest of the cast and his personal story is kind of underwhelming compared to some of the other characters. What do you think? :salamander:

True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
Amarant's story, like most of the FFIX cast, should've been fleshed out a hell of a lot more. It bugged me for ages that he's supposedly a Monk, but when you reach the monastery at Esto Gaza he's got nothing to say about it. It's like he doesn't actually *have* a back-story, aside from that time he was working as security guard and Zidane violently assaulted him while committing a robbery.
He was a great addition to the party in combat, though, and I used him about as much as possible.
Severely undercooked.
Yeah, he had some potentional I feel, but kind of gets shafted hard.
Zidane, Vivi, Freya, and Eiko pretty much get all the time in the game, where as Amarant and Freya get pretty screwed. Steiner is somewhere in the middle there.
I think he was unfinished, as in his story seemed unfinished - they revealed that he had been set up by Zidane, and never really went anywhere with it, other than imply that Zidane did remeber Amarant before actually revealing their history, and having Amarant assume that Zidane didn't remember him.
I personally think he did, because he used similar metaphors both times, I think that was Zidane's way of saying "we've done this before."
He needed to be fleshed out more. I didn't quite get his skills of throwing my stuff..... I need that stuff dude.
Hi Hannibal
Didn't know that you liked Final Fantasy
I thought that he was alright, a bit unoriginal and most of the time he was just there, but he sometimes did a good job having the opposite thoughts and opinions of Zidane. Amarant was the strongest survives, and Zidane was make sure that you help others in need.
Token filler. He arrived way too late to the party with no really good story or reason to do so other than "one day we must rematch!"
Felt cheap, I suppose. And I don't have an interest in his character or story.
No point to him whatsoever.
