Thread: Best Final Boss Theme of FF8?

Default Best Final Boss Theme of FF8?

So in VIII you had this awesome string of unique boss songs for the final few bosses in the game.

    BUT WHICH WAS THE BEST?

Sorry but "Premonition" is excluded due to not being unique for the final boss gauntlet.

    Griever

    Ultimecia-Griever

    Ultimecia's Final Form

    Personally it goes:
    The Legendary Beast
    The Extreme
    .
    .
    .
    Maybe I'm A Lion

If you look at the number of Likes on YT you see what I've always known - the greatest theme gets the least appreciation. Normal Griever looked ten times more awesome and had a much better theme but The Legendary Beast always gets shortchanged. WHY????

I can only assume it's because some dumbass had the bright idea of having Premonition continue to play until Griever uses Shockwave Pulsar. And since this game is absurdly easy, he's probably only gonna use the move when you've killed him. So the average player only heard the first 30 seconds of the song before he dies.

I adore Maybe I'm a Lion. But mostly The Black Mages version. Out of the originals, The Extreme wins it, for me. I like how the piano sections are so Mike Oldfield-y.

The Extreme is easily my favorite though Legendary Beast is pretty swanky as well.

I love The Extreme, it's one of my favorite songs in the game. I like how it pays homage to the older battle music (the "da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da" that returned fully in Final Fantasy IX).

I'd like to mash-up The Extreme with J-E-N-O-V-A one day as I find them quite close in terms of music. I don't have the talent just yet.

I have to admit - while Griever and "The Legendary Beast" have always been my favorite part of the four fights, I have a new appreciation for "The Extreme."

Hearing this particular part of "The Extreme" as she draws Apocalypse, and you're desperately trying to gather your defenses and hold on to dear life so you didn't waste the last hour, is really intense. I'll probably remember this boss fight for a long, long time. Might even be my favorite FF final boss now.

    :monster:

The Extreme, for sure. In the entire series only Dancing Mad tops it (unless Dark Messenger counts as a final battle theme).

The Extreme. It's my favorite final boss theme out of all FF games.

Oh without a shadow of a doubt, The Extreme. It's wonderful.
