Anonymity obviously helps people give an opinion without feeling judged by it, but I don't think we have many polls here where people will actually judge people for their answers I'm just being a moron.

In all seriousness if people are vindictive enough to judge other people over a user created poll, then chances are there are no pleasing them, anyway. That and they'll just find something else to pick at, because some people just can't be content or happy unless they are finding flaws in other things to feel better about themselves.

I think public should be the default option, but I don't think vB allows that without us doing some kind of editing. Maybe I'll look into it sometime.

I think private polls are okay. People can voice their opinions in the thread if they want to stand behind them.

It leaves an option for people who want to remain anonymous, which is considerate, I feel.
